Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground

If you want to stay warm in sunny Florida, why not celebrate Christmas at the campsites at Fort Wilderness Resort? Undoubtedly, this is the perfect spot for Christmas RVing! You can visit this resort to camp amid the magic of the great outdoors at Walt Disney World. We recommend a visit to this resort anytime, but especially during Christmas. In true Disney fashion, the campground offers a ton of family-friendly activities and endless holiday cheer. You can visit the parks or attend Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party at Magic Kingdom if you want to enjoy more of the Disney magic.

Ocean Grove RV Resort

Another option to stay warm while Christmas RVing is to stay seaside. Ocean Grove RV Resort is set in a waterfront environment with a large picnic pavilion and is minutes away from St. Augustine Beach. And from November 19, 2022 – January 31, 2023, you can attend the famous dazzling holiday display at Nights of Lights. During the season, businesses stay open later so you can stroll, shop, and eat under the Christmas lights.

Post Office Pit Stops

Additionally, you can make the holiday extra special by spreading the cheer! Consider a pit stop during your Christmas RVing trip to mail your gifts from Christmas Towns. Did you know that there is a town in Florida called Christmas? Christmas, Florida is located east of Orlando in Orange County. Coincidentally, it has a large post office with a special mail slot for Santa. And, after you’re done at the post office, you can see their famous Christmas Tree and stroll through their local Christmas Museum. Likewise, if you’re heading north, you can visit Santa Claus, Indiana. Visiting their Old Post Office is a timeless tradition and surely to make a great memory for your family.

Partake in Campground Cheer & Festitvities

Another way to make the most of Christmas RVing is to participate in the events at your resort. Campgrounds and RV parks are known to host family events and mixers on site. We think these community holiday events are a great way to get into the Christmas spirit. Most communities will have some sort of celebration, and larger resorts might have several options to choose from. From parades and RV site decorating competitions to caroling and potlucks, there’s sure to be merrymaking during the holiday season.

Do some research and search the internet for local Christmas parades, tree lighting ceremonies, and festivals. You can also drive around looking for neighborhoods and local parks with good Christmas lights displays. Typically, you will be able to find activities throughout December and they are the perfect way to feel holiday spirit.

Christmas RV decorations

Decorate Your RV & Campsite

Let’s be honest, Christmas is all about the decorations. That fact remains unchanged whether you are at home for the holiday or out and about Christmas RVing. Regardless of your location, you can deck out your home on wheels to make the season festive. Nothing feels more magical than string lights, whether you string them inside your RV or on the exterior. And you can complete the décor with a Christmas wreath on the door and most importantly, a Christmas tree.

While a 6ft tree can be impressive, we recommend saving the space and opting for a tabletop Christmas tree. Nowadays mini trees are popular, and you can decorate your tabletop tree in any theme you’d like, so get creative! But, if you have the space for a larger tree, it is the season to go all out. Also, if you want a full-sized tree but are limited on space, you can always utilize your campsite and outdoor area.

Christmas RVing Staycation

Lastly, the holidays are a time to get cozy with the family. With the colder weather, you will want to check your heating system, electrical and gas systems. You don’t want to have any unpredicted repairs or maintenance needed on your trip. We recommend you to schedule service and maintenance work before your trip to ensure your RV is travel ready. Once you make sure your RV is ready for the cold, and decorated for the season, stay in!

While we love exciting destinations and local events, sometimes the best memories are made at “home”. So, stay in, stock up and enjoy being secluded from the world with your closest people. Grab some blankets, make some snacks, and have a Christmas movie marathon. Unpack your board games and enjoy your time together in your home away from home. Light a fire and make some s’mores with the family. Again, Christmas is about bonding and Christmas RVing can make the holiday even more memorable.

How Will You Spend Your Christmas?

Regardless of where to spend your Christmas RVing adventure, you can make memories that last a lifetime. Plan head to take away any added stress. Remember to book your campsites and do your RV maintenance. You can read our blog, Keep Your RV Running With These Maintenance Tips: Servicing and Upkeep for more maintenance tips.

Again, you will want to ensure that your RV is road and winter ready, especially if you’re traveling extensively or doing an extended trip. You may want to do an RV leak detection or an oil change. Regular RV oil changes elongate your RV’s life and ensure it is safe on the road. Once your RV is road safe, enjoy the journey and experience all the season. Cheers to your Christmas RVing adventures!
