Dec 21, 2022 | Blog

As an RV dealership and repair shop near Orlando, we know a thing or two about RVing in Florida. Countless people flock to our backyard each year to enjoy the sunshine, theme parks and nature our area has to offer. If you’re traveling to KA RV Repair & Sales for a tune-up on your RV or you are picking up your used RV purchase at our dealership, we’ve put together a guide so you can enjoy your time in Volusia County.

Finding fun things to do while RVing in Florida

For starters, KA RV Repair & Sales is located in DeBary, Florida, right around halfway between Disney World and Daytona Beach. We’re in the perfect spot where many of the highlights of central Florida are less than a 45-minute drive away! We’ve rounded up a list of some of our favorites so it’s easy to find fun things to do on your RV travels through central Florida.

Gemini Springs State Park

Stroll Gemini Springs State Park

First, stay local and visit Gemini Springs State Park. This 212-acre park is in Debary and offers rich history and beautiful natural scenery. Once owned by the Padgett family, you can still see the two-story farmhouse and farm they are believed to have built. The park is open sunrise to sunset, and you can go canoeing, fishing, camping, biking, and hiking. There are several trails to choose from including paved and unpaved trails.  You can stroll at your leisure and make your own loops through the oak hammocks and along the twin springs. Additionally, there is also a dog park, so there is absolutely something for the whole family to enjoy here!

Ponce Inlet Lighthouse

Climb Ponce Inlet Lighthouse

The Ponce Inlet Light Station is a lighthouse and museum located at Ponce de León Inlet in Central Florida. This national historic landmark was constructed in 1887 and boasts over 130 years of history. Located ten miles south of Daytona, it is a local tradition to climb the lighthouse which is an impressive 175ft tall. In fact, it is the tallest lighthouse in Florida and one of the tallest in the United States. Once you’ve descended your climb, you can explore the museum and buildings surrounding the lighthouse. You can explore how the lighthouse keepers lived and view a 20-minute film on the history of the light station. And, if you still have daylight and energy, you can explore the nearby parks and beaches. This is certainly a great spot to stop when RVing in Florida.

Blue Spring State Park

Explore Blue Spring State Park

Next, another must see destination when RVing in Florida is Blue Spring State Park. This park is one of the best places to see manatees and is known for its year-round 72-degree water. Here you can rent kayaks and canoes or take a boat tour on the St. Johns River. While the park is established as a winter viewing site for the Florida manatees, birding here is also very popular. In fact, Blue Spring is a Great Florida Birding Trail site with over 140 species observed inside the park. One of those species is the scrub jay, the only bird species unique to Florida. Stop by the ranger station to pick up a list of bird species that can be seen in the park. Additionally, you can take a guided segway tour to explore the land. And once you’ve explored, you can shop for gifts and grab a snack at the park’s Manatee Gift Shop.

Aerial Rope Course.

Go ziplining at Seminole Aerial Adventures

Located in Sanford, Florida, Seminole Aerial Adventures is the perfect daytrip for the adventure seeker who loves nature. Indeed, this tree top adventure will help you see nature from a new perspective. This course will have you navigating through trees and obstacles using rope bridges, zips, suspended disks, and a variety of other elements. This is a self-guided tour, and you can choose from two different courses. The Upland Course is a moderate course, suitable for most adventurers while the Rainforest Course is a bit more challenging. And this attraction is located right in front of the Central Florida Zoo & Botanical Gardens. So, if you’re RVing in Florida, we recommend doing both!

Disney World

Visit the theme parks

Next, we can’t not mention Florida’s theme parks. From the Minion Mayhem at Universal Studios and Harry Potter’s Hogsmeade at Islands of Adventure to the many magical parks in Disney World, there is an adventure for everyone in Orlando, Florida. When visiting the parks, we always recommend a stay at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort. The resort sits on 750 acres of pine and cypress forest that homes deer, rabbits, ducks, and armadillos. The campsites are fully equipped, and the resort boasts a pool with a slide and spa are and other recreational activities such as archery, horseback riding and canoeing. And while the parks are magical in their own right, nothing beats the magic of nature and the great outdoors! You can also read our blog for more RV parks near Orlando, FL.
