Best RV Destinations for 2023
First, Phoenix, known as the Valley of the Sun, is famous for its year-round sun and warm temperatures. With its sunny climate, it is the perfect place to explore the best desert landscapes and culture in the Southwest. Some of our favorite spots include Desert Botanical Garden, Phoenix Zoo, and Papago Park.
And while there is an overabundance of natural offerings in the state, the capital is a hub of entertainment. Phoenix is also a multicity metropolitan area that’s full of high-end spa resorts, world famous golf courses and lively nightclubs.
While all of this makes it a top travel destination any time, this year presents an array of events and happenings that make it the top of our list. Though we love exploring the natural beauty of the Grand Canyon State, 2023 is a big year for sports and musical events in the area.
The festivities start with Super Bowl 2023, which is taking place at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, in February. Beyond the football game, the greater Phoenix area will also play host to the annual Waste Management Phoenix Open, which is the largest golf tournament on the PGA tour. And to round up the sports offerings, it is also home to MLB’s Cactus League Spring Training.
But sports events are not the only extra reason to visit the Phoenix area this year. From Taylor Swift to Metallica, there is an all-star musical line up for concerts in AZ this year. Regardless of which events draw you to the state, Phoenix is one of our top RV destinations for 2023!
Next on our list of RV destinations to visit in 2023 is another recommendation that is a year-round delight. Known for its cobblestone streets, rich history and scenic parks, Charleston, South Carolina is a must-see U.S city. From unique shopping and dining experiences to the abundance of outdoor and water activities, this city has something for everyone. If you’re looking to enjoy nature, our favorite spots are Cypress Gardens, Magnolia Plantation & Gardens & White Point Garden.
Other highlights in Charleston are taking a historic tour, enjoying the scenic views of the Charleston Harbor and strolling the Charleston City Market. Considered the “cultural heart of Charleston,” the City Market stretches four city blocks in historic downtown Charleston. The market is one of the oldest public markets and offers unique shopping and dining for locals and visitors alike.
And if you want even more history, you can tour one of the many plantations or visit Fort Sumter and Fort Moultrie. Known as the guardians of Charleston Harbor, these forts stand at the entrance of Charleston Harbor and were meant to protect South Carolina from naval invasion. The construction of Fort Sumter during the Civil War adds layers of history to be discovered on your visit.
For more untold stories of the time, you can visit the International African American Museum that is opening in 2023. his museum is about the journey of millions of Africans who were captured and arrived at Gadsden’s Wharf in Charleston. The anticipated African Ancestors Memorial Garden will highlight the exact spot on the shoreline where many captive Africans first set foot in America. And all the exhibitions will showcase and celebrate their labor, resistance, ingenuity and how they have shaped our world.
Whether you want to soak in the history of the city or enjoy the natural wonders that abound, Charleston is one of the RV destinations not to miss!
Rounding up our list of top RV destinations for 2023 is Macon, Georgia. Located centrally in the state, Macon is near both the mountains and the ocean. History runs deep in this city as well as it is designated the city where the soul of Georgia lives. There is so much to explore in this historic yet modern city.
Step back in time and experience Native American culture at the Ocmulgee Mounds in Ocmulgee Mounds National Historical Park. Or visit one of the many local and scenic parks such as Amerson River Park, and Tattnall Square Park. You can also see remarkable historic architecture such as the Hay House, which is known as “The Palace of the South.” The Hay House is one of the several local museums in or nearby Macon.
And after you’ve explored the mounds and museums, you can take in modern culture with the abundant markets and festivals. With over 350,000 Yoshino cherry trees, the Cherry Blossom Festival becomes the “Pinkest Party on Earth” from March 17- 26, 2023. And from April 14- 22, 2023, you can enjoy Macon’s annual Fired Works exhibit and sale. Fired Works is a nine-day event and features more than 6,000 pieces of pottery by over 60 ceramic artists from Georgia and the Southeast. From Macon’s famous Cherry Blossom Festival to Fired Works and more, there’s a festival for everyone during every season! Macon is a historic city with a laidback vibe and is undoubtedly one of our must-see RV destinations this year.
